Better Get Your Domain NOW!

A few years ago most of the Web's domain names were still available. In other words, most of the whatever.com names you could think of were still open for the taking.

With the Net expanding at lightening pace, it's now alarming how few domain names are left. Not only does it seem all the good domain names are taken, most have never been developed. Search for the great names that apply to someone in your business and you'll likely find that half or more are reserved but have nothing on them.

I soon foresee a day when there will be a law that forces you to use your domain or lose it.

The lesson in all this is to get your domain now before time runs out and somebody else gets it. If your choice domain is long gone, add a "z" or "7" to it (if that's not taken, too).

Dot com names are better than .Net or .Org for most businesses. Many people will put a dot com on your name even if it's not supposed to have one... like one of my kids who was looking for PBS.Org.Com.

In the near future, being able to say you got a dot com domain back when they were still available will be a bit like saying you bought once bought Microsoft stock for a dollar.
