Marketing a Neighborhood Business
I got this note this morning.
"Kevin, Help, I'm stuck! I have created a telephone messaging service. When people call us to report a suspicious situation, we can instantly warn everyone in their neighborhood."
"How do I let people know about this service? I don't have much money for advertising."
This is the kind of story that newspapers and local TV will probably be interested in. You can put together a press release or simply call local news departments. TV, especially, loves stories relating to local crime.
Flyers attached to door knobs with rubber bands (staple the rubber band to the flyer) is one of the best ways to spread word about a neighborhood service. Check local laws and customs before putting your flyers all over town. Some communities are more open to this than others.
Newspaper ads are the other way to reach home owners. You might look at smaller neighborhood papers for better rates.
Cable TV ads can be targeted to specific communities and neighborhoods at very low rates. I have an article on how to do this at DrNunley.com.
