Market With Your Own Email Discussion
As time goes on, people are spending less time surfing the World Wide Web and more time reading email. A significant number of people--more than 20 percent--use email exclusively. With email appliances and cell phones getting into the act, this trend is bound to continue.
Give your business a big jump on the trend by starting your own email discussion group. It's quite possible that your industry doesn't have one.
You can get excellent free service from Topica.com or Yahoo.com (new owner of the former eGroups list service).
The first challenge you will have is getting the word out about your list. Get lists of possibly interested parties through a trade association.
Search through Topica, eCircles, and Yahoo for groups similar to yours. You can sign up with them, post for a while, become known, and gradually get people to participate in your list.
Encourage people who join your list to forward their favorite posts to a friend (I repeat--FRIEND--and not to anyone they don't know).
